Story

On most days, it felt as though her world had been forcibly compressed and confined to four, white walls. Hidden away behind her fortress of pillows and sheets, she often fantasised about the world shed left behind, since the night of that fateful motor accident. Would life always be so dull and dreary? No, she decided. She would create her own window to the world outside, by picking up her paintbrush.

The lone window ushered in the last rays of the setting sun, making the sky blush in hues of red, orange and yellow. Capturing the frame in her minds eye, she painstakingly replicated the setting sun and the blush sky rays. It was a painstaking process and progress was slow as she was still recovering, but she laboured away to the best of her abilities. A week later, when her mother ventured into the bedroom to tuck her in, she was greeted by the sight of her tired but content daughter who had already drifted away into dreamland, clutching the sun that shone brighter than any of natures canvas.
